Common BMW Problems We Fix All the Time in Danville

You love your Beemer and we here at George Automotive Services don’t blame you one bit. A BMW really is the Ultimate Driving Machine. This does not mean, however, that these sporty vehicles do not come without common problems. There are a handful of issues for which BMWs are known. Thankfully, we are BMW experts here in our shop and we fix BMW problems all the time. Let’s talk about some of the issues you might face below.

Cooling System Problems

Many BMWs end up running hotter than they should. Although the cooling system is quite effective in keeping the engine under the desired temperature of 220 degrees Fahrenheit, if this system is not maintained properly, it can cause problems. BMWs are known to spring coolant leaks or have issues with the water pump, which is the pump that moves the coolant through the engine. Bring your Beemer into our shop for a cooling system inspection every 30,000 miles.

Leaking Oil

An oil leak isn’t good in any car. The oil is the lifeblood of the engine. Without oil, your engine will seize up and die in less than 30 minutes. Your BMW’s engine may spring and oil leak, and, unfortunately, this is not uncommon. If you see spots on your garage floor, bring your BMW to our shop right away. You do not want to drive your Beemer with leaking oil.

Steering Wheel Vibrations

If you drive a BMW from the 3 Series, you may end up with the common problem of your steering wheel vibrating when you apply the brakes. An issue with the thrush arm bearings is what causes this problem. You may not experience any issues until you put 75,000 miles on your Beemer. This is the mileage duration after which this problem usually reveals itself.

Tail Light Assembly

Finally, BMWs are known for faulty tail lamps. This can get frustrating because you end up with a warning on your dashboard that reads “Check Rear Lamp” or “Check Brake Lamp.” Usually, what causes this warning is a problem with the bull connection on the tail light’s circuit board. The connection can become corroded and this is what causes the malfunction to occur.

Do not panic. As we said above, George Automotive Services in Danville, PA, are experts when it comes to BMW service and repair and we can keep your Beemer in tiptop shape.
